This is a quick post about a fantastic tool find. At my local charity warehouse, I came across these beautiful, old, planes. They might look ‘well used’ now, but I will get to sprucing them back up and even make use of them.
At a staggering £4 for the long Jack Plane and £2 for the short, these were a bargain. It goes to show that there are always items that people have, don’t want, and that you can get using. A sharpen up on the bench grinder, some fine tuning, and they’re back to use after who knows how many years. I love old tools, they have so much history in them; if only they could talk.
Even on eBay, these fetch staggering money. In the condition they are currently in, they fetch from £25 to £60 on the collector’s market. A display quality one will fetch in the hundreds. Although it’s not about their worth, it’s pleasing to know how much of a bargain they really were. I will post again, when I get to giving them the TLC they deserve.
