I have been reading an article about how AI and robotics are being integrated into modern manufacturing in 2024. The key aspects talk about quick installation and accessibility being the key focus. They use the term Turnkey to describe how automation has become cheaper due to lower investment and far less emphasis on in-house skills.

It was then I thought hard. My ideas started to swirl, pondering the concept of small enterprises being able to adapt their business to low staff levels. The robotic overlords will step in and work 24/7. How might this affect the overall job availability?
I believe that we adapt when progress moves forward. Even with automation, we need to have programmers, engineers, controllers and ground level support. We can argue that AI will advance beyond us, but this can only really happen if we are willing to accept it. Our will to succeed will surpass this, with new opportunities becoming available as we work alongside the robots. Let’s just hope none of them learn to say, ‘I’ll be back!’
