It’s been another month of struggling with keeping the calories, controlled. The problem is all about the ‘total’ number of calories that I burn within a single day. Just to make it clearer:
- Active Calories: These are the calories that you burn from excess exercise and activities.
- Total Calories: These are the calories that you burn from your body’s general functions, plus active.

What has come to pass, is that my body’s functions are not burning much, at all. Even with a lot of exercise, making up a thousand calories or more, I can barely reach 2000, in total! This means that I can have ‘low effort’ days that total 1300! Just from this, it can be tricky to make sure that I am not over-eating, then equally, under-eating! This month has weighed in at 16st 11lbs (107kg.) Quite a loss, although I do believe that last month’s figure was a little anomalous.
Calorie Checking Chart:
| Week Number: | Calories Consumed: | Calories Burned: | Difference: |
| W/C: 15.11.25 | 20,291 | 22,361 | 2,070 Extra |
| W/C: 22.11.25 | 20,428 | 21,695 | 1,267 Extra |
| W/C: 29.11.25 | 19,750 | 19,822 | 72 Extra |
| W/C: 06.11.25 | 20,080 | 24,337 | 4,257 Extra |
| W/C: 13.11.25 | 20,617 | 23,680 | 3,063 Extra |
| Month Consumed: 101,166 | Month Burnt:111,895 | Difference:10,729 |
This data is over five weeks, so 25% more than last month. But still, the numbers are hefty and there is not really any more room for weight loss. The last week felt like the weight was dropping off of me, and my stomach felt quite empty. This needs to be addressed. Maybe Christmas is the answer?
The Weston 5k – 23.11.2025

This past month has seen me run another 5k. As written in last month’s post, I did the 5k to make it enjoyable. It turned out that I made my best time, too (32 minutes and 44 seconds.) You can see from the results that I came 2nd in my age class, and 12th in the 5k runners, overall. This was great, and likes to remind me of how much harder trail running is, compared to the street. That’s enough for the Winter, I will keep to my exercise plan, of which, at least once a week, is now above 10k. So, being Christmas, it’s a time for most to binge on TV and food, but not me, I’m a good boy. It’s not really that saintly, as I don’t have the appetite for most treats, anymore. So, even if I am a food-Scrooge, it doesn’t mean you’re actually naughty for enjoying the festivities, go on, let yourself go for it! Merry Christmas; thoughts are with those that don’t have the luxuries that many of us enjoy! Maybe share some mind for them?
This post is up on Christmas Eve. This is the day, four years ago, that we lost our beloved Cheryl. Today is ALWAYS dedicated to you, my love. #forcheryl
