My Tips for Controlling your Diet

I thought that I would tell you about how I control my diet. The word ‘diet‘ has always been seen as a negative thing. The fact is, we all have a diet, but it is only mentioned when we want to talk about ‘missing out.’ I have a key focus on keeping up with my nutritional needs, mostly holding up my carb levels, when I’m working out. The key to it all is to know ‘you!’ What works for you? For me, sugar is deadly, keeping many bread products away from my daily intake. For you? think about it…what do you eat that you think is ‘not good.’ You’ll be surprised by what is not that bad for you, and the possibility of something you don’t think about.

Protein in chicken! Carbs in noodles…and protein! Carbs in peas. There’s good fats too! Eggs, all over the place!

There is, of course, the obvious. If you are eating packs of biscuits and munching on crisps, all day, you can’t expect to feel fit and healthy. The big thing to remember, is that diets are not bad! You should never deny things, you should control them. I have a few points to make, to you, that help me:

  • Try to aim for a pack of biscuits lasting throughout the week.
    • Take a few with you, not the packet!
    • Consider the biscuits that you eat, there are vast differences between them.
    • Slow down and enjoy them. Taking time makes them special, not normal!
  • Use the Internet to find your ideal nutritional intake.
    • Know your weight, this will help you find the needed data.
    • Spreadsheets are a gem, you can watch everything with a little bit of input.
    • You can even use apps to help you record.
    • Recording your data, keeps you in touch with what you are consuming.
  • A mix of diet and exercise is needed.
    • Think about what you do in a day. A short walk can make all the difference.
    • Don’t overdo what you can’t! Nobody is the same! Go at your pace!
    • Even if you are just wanting to lose weight, you need to have some activity.
    • Many chores offer great exercise. I point you to stairs and even the garden! (Chores can be fun!)

These are just a few ideas, that work for me, but might not, for you. The most, most, most, important thing, though, is to have fun. Over a few weeks, you will begin to enjoy the feeling, and within a few months, you will feel so much better. There’s more to come, so keep looking back at these posts. If I can help you to feel good, I’m happy to do so!

(This is how it works for me, please consider what works for you. We are not the same, but you can do it, I have faith in you!)
