So, the time is upon me to do my first Super-Sprint Triathlon, and I am geared up and ready to go. I have spent the last few weeks bringing my running up to something that will stand against the expectation, and I have now made it that I can cycle 21km on my road bike, with little distress.

I had thought that I needed to do 10km for this one, but no, it’s 21km (13 miles,) so I have ramped up the exercise and practise on what feels like a metal block, beneath me. It’s hard to imagine how much difference there is the feel between a road bike and a mountain bike. The suspension on the mountain bike takes so much of the bumbles, that only the road bike can remind you of how bad it really is on the UK’s roads.
I have upped my protein intake and have placed a better emphasis on what is needed in my run-up. I wanted to log these thoughts, before the event, and will fill-in any blanks, after it. It has been five years in the making, and I have no delusions of it being easy, nor a simple completion and then go home. I have said it before, and I will say it again, I am doing this for the memory of my late wife, so here’s to her memory and the pain of missing her, every day!

Today, I have fitted a version two of the claw into Vyvyan. I will make a post about this in the coming weeks, as I have done a 40 mile (64km) drive with it, today, and there are gladly few wrinkles to iron out. More one that to come. Just to note, also, that I have decided that Wednesday posts are for Health and Fitness, only. There will be weeks, like last week, where I will miss them out. My mind is set on this, at the moment, and it is only in the past few hours that I have realised how much it is so. I’ll be back, and hopefully, with good news!
