Triathlon Times: The Training Begins

A few years ago I had applied to take part in the Cheshire Triathlon. It was only set to be the Super Sprint (200m Swim, 10km Cycle and 2.5km Run) and not the excessive distances of a full event. I was unable to do it as my health was poor and I had begun looking after my wife. Earlier still, I entered the London 100 cycling event, this too was dropped due to poor health. So, it might just be time…

I have been thinking about training to do the Cheshire in 2025. This year’s is coming up on 19th May, for which I know due to the yearly email I recieve about it. Nothing like rubbing salt in my wounds, but this year, it has sparked a new need. I will run the 2025 one, but I have seen that the Birmingham Triathlon is on 27th July…this year! This just happens to be my anniversary, and I want to run for her and for the hospice that helped her end-of-life care, run smoothly. This gives me 2.5 months to get on with it and set myself up.

I have rejoined the gym and have setup to play Squash, once again. My old racket only needed a simple grip change, so I have ended up with two, due to the fact that I didn’t check before I bought a new one. My bad! I want to journal my experience, and the training that will be needed. Look ahead and see how I do. I hope that in two and half months, I will be writing about my success. We shall see, as I run down the road, panting!
