The May ’26 Update – Health and Fitness

As I write this post, it is the day after the triathlon. I am achy and sore, but achieved! It has been a funny month. With it only being a four-seeker, it feels like much has been done, during it. The key focus, as was for the last two months, was being ready for my Sprint triathlon. This involved a 500m swim, a 13km bike ride (altered,) and a 5k run. The cycling was meant to be 21k, but an accident at a bridge meant that it was cut shorter, sadly. This did mean that a good pace was difficult to attain. Still, I was happy to make the three disciplines, having stepped up from last year ‘s Super Sprint. You can see from the data, below, how my times worked, with my transitions being quicker than last year, yay!

With the riding on the road bike being stepped up for the event, I have managed to hurt my hand, seemingly contracting a bout of trigger finger. This is quite painful and will be splinted in due course. Week three was all bout eating. I had my carbs ramped up for the few days prior. Lots of bread, rice and potato. I am happy with my time, but with the cycle shortening, I can’t use my time, from last year, to compare.

A new one in my collection!

What a month! I have now decided to look at an earlier 10k than the Stafford one, later in the year. I shall see what pops up. As always, making sure that I look after my fitness kit, is paramount, especially as outdoor swimming has resumed. That is a cold subject…well at least the was is…for now.For the record, this month, I have weighed in at 16st 5.5lbs (104.1kg.) I think I have found my ‘balanced’ weight range!
