The June ’26 Update – Health and Fitness

It is amazing to realise that this is the twenty-fourth month of recording the data for my weight along with these updates. I wanted to keep a journal of these two years, and so, the data for this month, will be the last on the tables. I shall keep on recording these posts, where I can add any changes or problems that I might come across, but on the whole, this has been a successful trip. The first Saturday of July’s data will include that of my first, official, 10k run. It’s not like I don’t normally run that distance, it is the fact that it is on trails. This is surprisingly harder than running on tarmac. This event is at Carsington Water, and will be a pretty run, with the beauty of the lake to my side. I have now got a fresh pair of Asics Trail Shoes to run in and I will review these, after they have been trialed at this event.

I would like to continue mentioning the bread intake as a core vice. I work hard to keep the detriment to a minimum, but can see how too much bread is not good for me. I keep telling myself that it isn’t white bread. I am eating low sugars and not entertaining the loaves that are nearer to cake, than that of a complicated, carbohydrate! I been off open water swimming, recently, finding it is causing anxiety. I am unsure why, but will keep trying to fight past it. The biggest change is with my pool swimming. I like to now do the following, on each session:

  • 40 Lengths (1000m) – Front Crawl
  • 20 Lengths (500m) – Pull Bouy and Crawl Arms
  • 20 Lengths (500m) – Breast Stroke

This double-lengthed session is proving to be the reasoning behind the body shape change. It is also helping to strengthen my arm’s muscles. I would say that it is quite alarming how the stillness of the legs, when pulling the leg-float, makes for a calm swimming stroke. It just shows how much the legs kicking, will drain your energy, quickly! It’s also faster!

The final week has been difficult with fatigue, so it worked to actually create a balanced sheet. Keeping five weeks to only a 41 calorie extra burn, is quire an achievment. This month has seen a loss of one pound, putting me at 16st 4.5lbs (103.6kg.) What started as a tough call, has seen a great result, but it is not over. The balancing of data to exercise is still as complicated. The last few months show the balancing at a weight that my body is clearly happy at. Telling my head to accept that is a lot more difficult. I endevour to keep building musle, keep running, and keep up with my data recording, regardless. There has been a muscle increase, this month, with a body shape change, too. I am unsure at where this will stabalise, but I am happy with the progress.
