The July ’26 Update – Health and Fitness

As I mentioned in last month’s post, I was set to do the Carsington Water run, on 28th June. This did happen and was a hot, hilly, run. My first, official, 10k, was on trails and heavy climbs, all wrapped up with the sun beaming down at 27 degrees! Still, it all went well, in the end, and was a great achievement. My next booked event is another 10k, in September. Before then, it’s a bit of marshalling at the triathlons. The month has gone so fast! The heatwave has made exercise, very hard, but I think that I have managed to buck it, making runs of, at least, 6k, at any time.

This is ‘The Bucket!’

I decided to try out a new piece of kit. There has been a lot of research into cold dipping, hot muscles, so I thought I’d give it a try! It’s a bit chilly on entry, and I haven’t tried ice in it, yet, but it is so soothing after a hot run. The best part has been the quick drying, after the event. I opt to stay in for fifteen minutes, straight, rather than the multiple ‘3 minute’ dips that they recommend. For now, I will see how this goes and report back if I have any real information to add.

This month’s weight is in at 16st 5.5lbs (104.1kg,) again. This will bounce about, a bit, now, with my weight in it’s prime spot, I can only keep moving the intake with gentle waves. That balance is so hard to get! I did complete the main page’s data, last month, but will still add this month’s total numbers, right on these posts.

With Summer in full swing, there will be more hot runs, and I just hope there’s some drops in there, too. The UK is not used to this kind of scorching heat, so we are all on the moan! When the heat eases, I want to get on my bike for some decent rides, along with some trail runs, for good measure. Another month, more data, with more to come…until then…
